The Hero of Tiger Hill is an autobiography written by a brave and courageous Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, who received the prestigious Param Vir award. His journey from being a villager to becoming a soldier sheds light on the obstacles he encountered. His duty was to protect his nation and safeguard the interests of the war and crisis with great dedication.
The book is divided into three sections: Formative years, From a civilian to a soldier, and Kargil War. He discusses his humble childhood, his struggling and beautiful early days, simple village life as well as the struggles of being a farmer in the first part (Formative years). As he reflects on his parents and elder brother, he remembers how they taught him and inspired him the most.
His journey from a civilian to a soldier is outlined in Part Two (From a civilian to a soldier). As a result of the rigorous and enriching training, he underwent, he learned the importance of cooperation, togetherness, firm resolve, patience, and the importance of his country first, how he could not attend his brother's wedding, his first posting in Kashmir, and their operations to eradicate terrorism in Kashmir.
In final part - the Kargil War - explains everything about that war - why it started, how it began, how thousands of brave soldiers died who fought with indomitable spirit, and finally the war on Tiger Hill, where he exhibited exemplary courage, determination, and will despite sustained major injuries, which earned him the Param Vir Chakra.
Through his story, he attempted to show how he transformed from a simple villager to a fearless soldier who worked tirelessly to win his country's flag. Every single line is enough to make an Indian proud and feel goosebumps.

It is written in a straightforward and lucid manner, making it accessible to readers of all ages. Each chapter concludes with a quote sharing a lesson the author learned. There are also photos depicting Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav after he joined the army, the Tololing Peaks memories he won with his unit, and the Tiger Hill Victory pictures in the book. The book ends with a list of all the highest award-winning soldiers. I feel every reader should read this book.
