Yaksh, a salesman from a small village in Rajasthan, is striving to carve a place for himself in the unforgiving pace of Delhi, carrying with him the unfulfilled dream of his late mother, who wished to see him flourish in the city. In stark contrast, Yudhishthir is a successful consultant at Dyฤus, a global giant in pharmaceutical and biotech research, where the limits of human innovation are constantly being tested.Their lives unfold in parallel narrativesโYaksh navigating heartbreak and hardship in Delhi. Yudhishthir, during a visit to Japan, encounters Professor Tanaka, whose revelations hold the power to alter the course of scientific history. From that moment, Yudhishthir is thrust into a world of secrecy and danger, while Yakshโs own story takes a tragic turn that changes everything.
The writing is simple, the narration smooth, and at times quite engaging. However, I went into the book expecting a gripping mystery or thriller, but the story didnโt deliver on that front. The two narratives run side by side in alternate chapters, and for most of the book, they feel entirely disconnected. By the final chapter, the author attempts to weave them together, but the link felt weak and unconvincing. The lack of suspense or twist left me underwhelmed. Perhaps I missed something that other readers might see, but for me, the ending did not resonate.
The pacing was another challengeโthe narrative often felt slow, making it hard to stay invested, though a handful of chapters stood out with truly captivating writing. The scientific aspects, particularly those rooted in physics, may appeal to readers with a strong interest in the subject, though for others, it might feel a little heavy.
Overall, I found the book to be an uneven reading experience. There were glimpses of potential, but the connection between the two storylines did not feel impactful, and the โthrillerโ element seemed overstated. Iโve rated it three starsโpartly for the well-written sections, but largely because it fell short of what I had anticipated. Whether you pick this book up or not depends on your personal taste; if you enjoy slow-paced narratives with scientific themes, you may find more value in it than I did.
My Rating:
3/5
