The Gist:

A woman is killed in an accident. A scientist is murdered in broad daylight. Yet no murderer was seen. One by one, a team of scientists on the verge of an important discovery die under mysterious circumstances. Superintendent Vijay is an ace detective who has solved many cases in the past. But this time itโ€™s more than an ordinary investigation as he falls prey to the evil schemes of his rivals in the force. He cannot trust anyone anymore till a journalist, Padmini, walks into his life. Vijayโ€™s skills as a detective along with Padmini's creative intuition and imagination are pitted against a genius who is eliminating every possible lead, right under their nose. As fear and distrust spread through the city, Vijay, his trusted aide Dalvi, and Padmini have just one week to nab the murderer, if there is one!.

The cover itself reveals that this is going to be a thriller, which keeps you curious and guessing till the end. For a debut book, picking up this storyline is a very brave step.

The author has written the book in an easily comprehensible manner. Also, the book length is not much and the story runs at quite a fast pace, so there's no option of you being bored. The language used throughout the book is simple and easy to understand. The narration of the book is par and realistic. All the characters were so beautifully written. I liked each character as they come up in the story and have made a good impression.

It all triggers when a woman dies in an accident and soon after a scientist is killed and we are taken through the investigation by the protagonist Vijay. The cops have no clue about the identity of the murderer, several trustworthy people change their color and new friendships are formed during the quest for truth. The first few chapters build the narrative and thoughts, feelings of the characters. It tumbles out in a simple, free style of writing. This makes us enter a territory of an enthralling read. The book is interesting enough to hold your attention but has quite a lot of flaws. At the end of the book, I was left with some questions and found some loopholes in the story. Sometimes it feels that the character of Vijay is just another alpha male who is magically able to solve everything. Also, the ending was good but it was not a surprise, you have already left some voids which tell who is going to be the killer.

A fast pace thriller, I must appreciate the author for his writing style. Easy and Engaging read from the first chapter till the end. It Belongs to one of my favorite genres, so I enjoyed the book.

My Rating:

4/5
