As the title suggests, the story unfolds in the serene hill town of Mussoorie. Arjun, a young lawyer based in Delhi, returns after fifteen years to uncover the truth behind his fatherโ€™s mysterious death. In Mussoorie, he crosses paths with Shibani, an aspiring journalist confronting shadows from her own past. Their individual quests soon intertwine, leading them into the heart of a long-buried double murder. What begins as a quiet search for answers gradually spirals into a dangerous conspiracy. With secrets resurfacing and stakes rising, Arjun and Shibani must unravel the truth before another tragedy unfolds.

Coming to the other aspects of the book, since it is a murder mystery, I would refrain from revealing too much. The writing style is simple, and the narration flows smoothly, making it a quick and engaging read. The plot is intriguing; however, it may appeal more to beginners than to seasoned mystery enthusiasts. At just around 130 pages, it is ideal for new readers or those seeking a concise, fast-paced story.
As an avid thriller reader myself, I found the twists fairly predictable within the first 20โ€“25 pages (I even guessed the culprit quite early), and a few plot loopholes diluted the overall impact. For instance, Arjun meets Shibani by chance and almost immediately confides in her something deeply personalโ€”something he has even kept from his own family. It felt rather abrupt and somewhat illogical in the context of the story. Therefore, while the book may not completely satisfy hardcore suspense lovers, it certainly serves as a good starting point for novice readers seeking a light mystery without intense surprises.

I recommend this book to new readers or anyone looking for a quick, straightforward read rather than a complex, twist-filled thriller.

3/5
