The story centres around Molina, whose seemingly perfect plan begins to take shape after she discovers her husband with another womanโat a maternity clinic, no less. In that moment, she could have created a scene, demanded answers, or walked away dramatically. But instead, she chooses silence. She turns and leaves, bottling up the anguish and fury behind a composed exterior. What follows is a calculated pursuit of revenge, as she vows to make him experience the same pain she feltโbreath by breath. As her plan begins to unfold, the suspense builds, and Iโll refrain from revealing more to avoid spoiling the twists for future readers.
Regarding the writing style, the language used is simple and accessible, making it an easy read, particularly for beginners or college students. However, the narration left room for improvement. At times, I found the storytelling somewhat confusing, and the flow faltered in crucial places. The plot itself is intriguing, and the climax is exceptionally well-executed. However, the storytelling, particularly in the middle portion, loses its grip.
One particular concern I had was with the structure: in Chapter Two, we witness a life-changing discovery for Molina โ a moment that should have propelled the narrative forward. Yet, from Chapter Three to Twelve, the story detours entirely into her past. While backstory is crucial, this lengthy flashback sequence diluted the thrillerโs momentum for me. I feel shorter; well-placed flashbacks would have sustained the tension while enriching character development.
The plot itself is compelling, and the climax is, without a doubt, brilliant โ her revenge is as sharp and satisfying as the build-up promises. The characters had potential, but they could have been developed further to match the emotional weight of the plot. I rated it 3 stars solely for the brilliance of her plan and the climax.
To summarise, itโs a story with a strong foundation and a captivating premise. With tighter narration and a more balanced structure, it could have been a standout read. For novice readers, the book serves as a good starting point in the thriller genre. However, for seasoned readers, it may fall short of expectations.
My Rating:
3/5
