You often hear the advice not to judge a book by its cover, and while it's a wise saying, the truth is, the allure of an appealing cover is hard to resist. In this case, the book's cover, adorned with captivating pastel colours, happens to be one of my absolute favourites. As the story unfolds, it beautifully portrays the delightful romance between the characters Dylan and Theo. Their journey takes an interesting turn as they embark on a fake dating relationship. Dylan, grappling with his emotions, remains somewhat oblivious to Theo's subtle hints and advances.
A poignant element of the narrative revolves around Theo's struggle to reconnect with his heritage after his mother died unexpectedly when he was a child. When Dylan introduces Theo to his culture, the story takes a heartwarming turn. It not only enhances their relationship but also provides readers with a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. Another aspect of the book that I found endearing was the family aspect. The strong familial bonds between Dylan and his aunts and cousins are evident in the way they consistently support him. Witnessing their love, appreciation, and reliance on each other not only enhances the narrative but also adds a layer of warmth to the overall reading experience.

The moment I laid eyes on the cover, I couldn't contain my excitement to delve into this stunning read! It's undeniably a fast-paced book, making it the perfect antidote for the reading slump I was in. The language flows effortlessly, and the narration is simply captivating. Every aspect of the book resonated with me; from the brilliant characterization to the overall execution, I found myself enamoured.
The dynamic between Theo and Dylan, coupled with their delightful banter, became the beating heart of the story. The wedding, a standout moment in the narrative, showcased the intricacies of their fake relationship. Furthermore, the book adeptly navigates their journey through grief, adding a poignant layer to the narrative. I wholeheartedly recommend this as a charming and brisk romance, especially for fellow enthusiasts of the genre!
