As the title suggests, the story revolves around a mysterious Dream Store โ€” a shop nestled in an imaginary world that people visit while sleeping to purchase dreams tailored to their desires. The concept is undeniably unique and imaginative, with multiple floors dedicated to different types of dreams, a team of dream-selling employees, and an otherworldly ambience that sets it apart from conventional storytelling.
At first glance, the plot intrigued me with its originality. I anticipated a reflective, emotionally layered narrative reminiscent of Before the Coffee Gets Cold. However, as I delved deeper into the book, it became clear that the story was more whimsical and fantastical than I had expected. While the language is simple and accessible, and the narration flows smoothly with well-developed characters, the tone and style seem more suited for younger audiences.
Despite my best efforts, the book failed to captivate me. As I dislike leaving any book unfinished, I made every effort to stay engaged and continue reading. However, halfway through, the story became increasingly dull and uninviting. It became a struggle to get through each chapter, and eventually, I had to set it aside with just two chapters remaining. It simply became too difficult to continue without genuine interest. Additionally, I found the character names from the dreamland somewhat jarring and unappealing, which further hampered my connection with the narrative.

In summary, despite its well-constructed world-building, it may appeal to younger readers or fans of magical realism and fantasy, particularly those who enjoy stories like "Harry Potter",โ€”but it may not satisfy readers seeking mature themes or realistic storytelling. For me, the imaginative concept alone wasn't enough to carry the book, and for that reason, I rated it three stars.

My Rating:

3/5
