The novel falls into the psychological thriller and horror genres. Since it is more of a suspense element, I won't discuss it much because it will spoil the story.

The book started in 1999 while Parizaad was living with her daughter in Paradise Heights, Mumbai. Her 7-year-old daughter was missing and she was found dead one dreadful rainy night. According to those who know her, she used black magic and sacrificed her own daughter to increase her power. Eventually, the story switches to the 2019 timeline, and pregnant Anahita moves into that apartment with her husband Varun, and something happens to her that reopens the story of Parizaad from twenty years ago.

Twenty years ago, what happened in that apartment in Paradise Heights?
What did people believe was true or was there something else to the story?
In what way does this story relate to Dakhama?

The plot was interesting to me. The story is filled with elements of suspense, drama, horror, etc. The author's narration style is crisp and captivating. This plot is filled with numerous twists and turns. The book grabbed my attention right away and I couldn't put it down. The book was quite interesting to read. The author managed to bring everything together and give the readers a satisfying ending. There is an eerie and strange tone to the novel, which sets the mood of the plot. It is impressive how acutely the characters are described. It is very well established what each character's psyche is like and how they act. There is a perfect alignment between the past and present scenarios. In addition, the author provides an intriguing and satisfying ending. You should read this book if you're looking for a light paranormal read.

My Rating:

5/5
